NORWAY — Guy E. Rowe Elementary School in Norway has been selected as a 2024 national finalist in the 2nd annual elementary school creativity contest sponsored by Jersey Mike’s Subs and the Harlem Globetrotters. Dubbed the “Court of Creativity presented by Jersey Mike’s Subs,” this competition inspires students and educators to display their inventive talents through projects related to the Harlem Globetrotters or basketball.

As a top 10 selection by a panel of judges, Guy E. Rowe Elementary has been awarded a $1,000 donation from Jersey Mike’s Subs. One grand prize winner will receive a visit from the Harlem Globetrotters before the end of the 2023-24 school year. The school incorporated the Globetrotters’ spirit and iconic look into a series of art projects, and students sent in pictures of them playing basketball in the snow. To see all of the top 10 finalists nationwide, click HERE.

Students across the country submitted unique and entertaining entries ranging from basketball-themed math class to Globetrotters-inspired art and trick shot videos. The entries showcased the students’ teamwork, imagination, and skill. Each entry demonstrated the power of collaboration, creativity, and sportsmanship.

“Ingenuity and creativity add a layer of excitement to any activity, whether it’s a live Harlem Globetrotters game or a classroom activity,” said Rich Hope, the Chief Marketing Officer at Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, Inc. “The exceptional projects submitted from across the nation truly embody the spirit of the Globetrotters. Thanks to all of the schools who participated. We’re thrilled to make this an annual tradition.”

The challenge was open to public, private, and vocational schools with grades Kindergarten through 5th across the United States. It was part of Jersey Mike’s and the Harlem Globetrotters’ ongoing efforts to promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and creativity among young people.
