DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Hartford Heritage Society Main Street, Rt 140 in Hartford is hosting a plant sale at the J & O Irish Museum on Saturday, May 11 (the day before Mother’s Day) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All perennials are $3 each and larger plants and shrubs are $5 each. All these plants come from local gardens. We will also be raffling off items inside the museum. Most will be garden related. Please stop by and shop for the gardeners in your life.

If you have any extra plants you would like to donate to our sale, please call Rosie at 597-2270, Doreen at 224-7147, or Natasha at 212-9353. Thank you for your participation in our fundraisers for the museum.—Doreen, no town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My brother and I are interested in historical information regarding Lewiston Raceway.

Our grandfather, Henry F. Richards, had his blacksmith shop at Lewiston Fairgrounds in the 1930s and 1940s. He also owned and raced an old Maine favorite “Earl, Jr.” in 1918 and 1919.  We’re wondering where to find information about Earl and the raceway.—Elizabeth, no town

ANSWER: I’m putting this out into Sun Spots Land so we can get comments from anyone who can help you. In the meantime, have you contacted the Androscoggin Historical Society at 93 Lisbon St. (androhistory.org/, 784-0586, info@androhistory.org)?
