Kenneth W. MacFawn

RUMFORD – Kenneth W. “Pa” MacFawn, 79, died on April 26, 2024 at his residence on the Andover Road in Rumford Center as the result of a tragic accident.

He attended CMVTI and the University of Maine at Orono where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was drafted to the US Army and served in Vietnam. He was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in a war zone. Ken worked as manager of the Rumford Falls Power Company and at the time of his retirement was the Utilities and Maintenance Manager at Mead Paper. Ken was very proud of his community and volunteered many hours over the years. He was a board member of the GRCC, was very active at Black Mountain of Maine, and was the Chairman of the Rumford Planning Board. Ken was also a member of Napoleon Oulette Post #24 American Legion, Elks, NRA, and the Republican Party.

Ken’s family was everything to him. He was so proud of all of them and his most treasured memories were of times spent with them. Ken always looked forward to the first trickle of sap in the spring. He and his life long friend Thomas Hartranft (Pucky) enjoyed many hours boiling sap and making syrup in their sugar shack. Ken was a collector of many things but most importantly, he was a collector of friends.
