Clean-up

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Conservation Committee has scheduled its annual clean-up of town roads for Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. The rain date is May 11. We suggest that volunteers wear boots, gloves, and bug spray, as the sides of the roads may still be wet. Trash bags, safety vests, and plastic gloves will be provided by the town. On May 4 we will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121.

This year, the Conservation Committee has decided that we will not give out plastic water bottles to our participants. We ask that you bring your own sustainable water containers. The members of the Otisfield Social Outreach Committee (Community Lunch Group) will be feeding the volunteers lunch at the Community Hall after the clean-up. Gluten-free and vegetarian options will be available. Hope to see you there!

Dragon Boat

NORWAY — Want to know what the Maine Dragon Boat Club is all about?

Come along to our presentation on Thursday, May 23 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Norway Memorial Library and find out. We are starting our second year of paddling and we encourage the community to get involved in the Dragon Boat Club. The club president, Sherri, and participants will cover a brief history of the Dragon Boat Club as it starts its second season, talk about why they chose Maine to start the program, and share this season’s schedule. Attendees will have a chance to try out the paddling equipment. So why not come along and find out about Dragon Boating? After all, it is the Chinese year of the Dragon!

For further club information, please contact Sherri at mainedragonboatclub@gmail.com or call (207) 890-7367. We are also on Facebook at ‘Maine Dragon Boat Club’. Norway Memorial Library is located at 258 Main Street in Norway. For more information about the library, call 743-5309, Ext 1.
