MONICA WOOD, SUCCESSFUL AUTHOR, MEXICO BON & RAISED, TO SPEAK AT AMERICAN LEGION IN RUMFORDMAY 8 AT 7 P.M.
RUMFORD — Friends of the Rumford Public Library will host One-in-a-Million Boy and When We Were the Kennedys author Monica Wood.
The reading will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
Because the Public Room at Rumford Public Library is temporarily closed, the event will be held at the American Legion, 184 Congress St. A reception will follow the talk.
Born and raised in Mexico, Maine, Wood is a novelist, memoirist, and playwright; the 2019 recipient of the Maine Humanities Council Carlson Prize for contributions to the public humanities; and a recipient of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance Distinguished Achievement Award for contributions to the literary arts.
Wood’s latest novel, How to Read a Book, will be on sale during the informal reception following the program.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations to the Friends are welcome.
The Friends is a nonprofit organization whose members have a vested interest in the library.
