Phyllis M. Gallant
RUMFORD – Phyllis M. Gallant, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024, in Florida.
Phyllis was born in Rumford, on Dec. 27, 1927, the daughter of Raymond and Eliabeth (Woolley) Chambers. She attended Rumford Schools and later worked for Norm DeRoche and Bedard’s store as a clerk for many years. She also worked at Rummex Dexter Shoe in Rumford as the floor manager. Phyllis married the love of her life, the late Edward J. Gallant on Sept. 27, 1947, and together they made their home in Rumford and raised two sons. Following retirement, she and her husband spent a lot of summer hours watching their three grandsons in Rumford. They summered in Maine and wintered in Florida for many years. Mom continued that trend right up until the present.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Wayne Gallant of Bethel and Gary Gallant and partner Paul Camire of Ruskin, Fla., three grandsons, Kevin Gallant and wife Kate, Tim Gallant and wife Heather, Chris and wife Kristy, six great-grandchildren, Buckley, Penelope, Spencer, Logan, Gavin, and Cody Gallant. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, brothers, Red Chambers and Bobby Chambers, and sisters, Louise Packard, June Young and Jean Wallace Arsenault.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday July 18, 2024, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road in Augusta. Arrangements are under the direction of Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St. Rumford.
