David L. Trider
AUBURN – David L. Trider, 90, a resident of Leeds, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, with many of his family members at his side. His family will remember him as a man with unconditional love for his family and community. He lived his faith in longstanding and dedicated service to others. He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Lewiston, the son of Walter R. Trider and Alma M. (McNear) Trider. David graduated from Lewiston High School, class of 1953. On May 22, 1954, in Leeds, he married the love of his life, Nancy L. Bryant, and together they raised their three children. David worked as an industrial electrician and served as past president of IBEW Local 1253. David volunteered for the Leeds Fire Department for over 60 years, often being first on the scene. His children had a strict rule to keep gas in the car in case he had a fire call in the middle of the night. In 2014 David received the Spirit of America Award for his volunteer work in his community. He enjoyed cutting and splitting wood, tinkering on his bulldozer, boating to Monhegan Island, and working on his woodlot affectionately known as “Applesass.” He loved learning and had an unquestionable curiosity for all things science. He also loved all things pie. He is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Trider Grant and husband Arthur of Leeds, Dr. Karen Barrett and partner Noah Smith of New Vineyard, and a son, Christopher D. Trider of Leeds, eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Nancy L. Trider, a grandson, Forrest W. Austin III, a granddaughter, Deven Trider, a daughter-in-law, Karen Trider, and two sisters, Shirley Gage, and Dawn Barker. Messages of condolences may be made to: www: finleyfuneralhome.com.
