DOVER, N.H. – Gregory F. Froton Sr., 86, of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Hyder Family Hospice Home in Dover, N.H., after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Lewiston, on Sept. 28, 1937, to Charles Froton and Maxine (Haines) Froton. Greg graduated from St Dominic’s High School in 1955. Greg received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine in 1973. He proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1959. Greg was employed in the health care profession serving in executive positions at St. Mary’s Hospital and Marcotte Nursing Home in Lewiston, Maine and as the Administrator/CEO of the Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee, New Hampshire, retiring in 2005. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Servicelink of Strafford County as a Medicare Coordinator. He relished this job the most as he was able to educate and advise clients while using his knowledge, interpersonal skills, and his passion for French and Spanish. Greg was a member of the New Hampshire Association of County Nursing Home Administrators and the Maine Healthcare Association. He was a former Parish Council and Finance Committee member of Holy Rosary in Rochester. He also served on the Supervisory Committee for the Holy Rosary Credit Union. Greg was an avid workout enthusiast, beach goer and a voracious reader. Greg was predeceased by his parents along with his sister Colleen Poulin. His survivors include his wife Denise (Potter) Froton, his daughter Gina (Karl) Simon of Virginia, his son Gregory Froton Jr. of Cape Elizabeth and daughter Karen (William) Backman of Westbrook and his three grandchildren: Grace Backman of South Portland, Eleanor Backman and Liam Backman, both of Westbrook. The family would like to thank the staff at the Riverside Rest Home and the Hyder Family Hospice for their attentive and professional care. Services will be private.
