S. Carl Webster
SCARBOROUGH – S. Carl Webster, 87, a resident of Scarborough and formerly of Poland, Maine, died March 14, 2024, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Howard S. and Agnes M. (Sullivan) Webster. He attended Haverhill schools and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1955 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeastern University in 1960. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Carl served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963.
For 27 years, Carl was employed as a Comptroller at the Elan School in Poland Springs, and later in the same capacity at Scarborough Downs in Maine, retiring in 2005.
A member of the American Legion Post of Poland, he was an avid golfer, and accomplished a Hole-In-One at Far Corners Golf Club in Boxford, Mass., and, also was a member of the Poland Springs Golf Club. He also enjoyed playing cards and watching Harness Racing.
Carl will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister, Nancy Webster of Melbourne, Fla., and several nieces, nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and cousins. Carl was predeceased by his sister Minerva “Webbie” Webster in 2023 and a brother William S. Webster in 1961.
