To the Editor:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent annual Greenwood Roadside Clean-up. About 20 people showed up on a chilly and cloudy Saturday morning to prowl the roadsides and fill trash bags with litter. Most of the main roads here were cleaned by the time they finished.
It was a diverse group, including seasonal residents, those who have lived here forever and a day, a child who was helping her mother, a woman who drove over from Andover to help just because she likes what we do, and the rest of us who have no particular claim to fame.
Ooops, there is one participant with a claim to fame. Seven weeks ago that participant broke her hip, and it was surgically repaired with three screws. That did not stop her from coming to help pick up trash along Howe Hill Road from Main Street to the ball field!
A number of other people picked up roadside trash before and after the event. One way or another, lots of people gave of their time to benefit Greenwood.
It is great to see how many people care about our little community. Thank you one and all.
