100 Years Ago: 1924
Alfred Leblanc of Pine street, Lewiston, has taken over the interests of his brother, Philip, in the Lewiston Steam and Dye House at 139 Main street, Lewiston. Alfred has been manager of the concern, and is now sole owner. Philip Leblanc has opened a grocery store at 51 Knox Street.
Mr. LeBlanc is well known in Lewiston business circles and is fully conversant with modern methods of cleansing and dyeing.
50 Years Ago: 1974
Three Lewiston youngsters won new bicycles Sunday at the Lewiston Police Department’s annual bike rodeo held at the Lewiston Mall parking lot.
The winners were Sue Gosselin, 12, of 32 Walnut St.. Steve Renaud, 11, of 35 Reservoir Ave. and Jeffrey Parshall, 12, of 35 Orchard Circle.
25 Years Ago: 1999
The Maine House and Senate are split on a bill to extend the hunting day for up to 15 minutes after sundown.
The House approved it Tuesday, but on Wednesday the Senate voted it down. Unless the Senate changes its mind, the bill will die.
George Smith of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine said all hunters know the best times to hunt are at dawn and sunset, and that hunters earned the extra 15 minutes by their safety record.
