The following colleges and universities recently announced area students’ academic achievements during the 2024 spring semester.

University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences

LEXINGTON, K.Y. — Sara Condon of Winthrop was named to the 2024 spring University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences dean’s list.

Students on the dean’s list earned 12 or more credit hours as letter grades with a minimum 3.6 GPA for the semester.

Hamilton College

CLINTON, N.Y . — Hamilton College student Rylee Lyons of Durham recently was named to the 2024 New England Small College Athletic Conference spring All-Academic Team for women’s track & field. The recognition honors sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Lyons, a rising junior majoring in psychology and sociology, is a graduate of Freeport High School.

Eastern Connecticut State University

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Kiana Webster of Raymond, a senior who majors in new media studies, has been named to the 2024 spring semester dean’st list at Eastern Connecticut State University.

To qualify for dean’s list, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in letter-graded courses with an average GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester.

Thomas College

WATERVILLE — Thomas College announces local undergraduate students named to the 2024 spring honors list.

Curry College

MILTON, Mass. — Two local students have been named to the 2024 spring dean’s list at Curry College.

They are Paige Bourgoin and Ariana Vallee, both of Lewiston.

University of Rhode Island

KINGSTON, R.I. — The University of Rhode Island has named the following local students to its 2024 spring dean’s list.

They include Kaila Godbey of Jay, Abigail Mitchell of Lewiston, Morgan Fenderson of Lisbon Falls, Paige Rice of Mount Vernon, Ashley Childs of Norway, Ella Delisle and Ella Schmidt, both of Readfield; Tucker Pieh of Rome, Evan Stone of Wilton, and Gabrielle Blanco and Sophia Blanco, both of Winthrop.

To be included on the dean’s ;ist, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable earning at least a 3.30 quality point average.

Emerson College

BOSTON — Eight local students have been named to the 2024 spring semester dean’s list at Emerson College.

They are Ella Shaffer of Rangeley, majoring in journalism and a member of the Class of 2026; William Newschafer of Gray, majoring in comedic arts and a member of the Class of 2026; and Madeleine DuBois of Auburn, majoring in theatre education and a member of the Class of 2027.

The requirement to make dean’s list is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

Grove City College

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Three local students were named to the 2024 spring semester dean’s list at Grove City College.

They are Lydia Bennett of Bethel, Kaylynn Johnson of Otisfield, and Christian Viekman of New Gloucester. (04260)

HARRISONBURG, Va. — James Madison University has named two local students to its 2024 spring semester dean’s list.

The College of St. Scholastica 

DULUTH, Minn. — Ethan Livingood of Bethel was named to the dean’s list at The College of St. Scholastica.

Dean’s list members have achieved a 3.75 grade point average or above on a 4.0 scale.

James Madison University

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Amber Currie of Monmouth and Kacy Grijalva of Gray graduated in May from James Madison University.

Currie earned with a bachelor’s degree in social work and Grijalva earned a bachelor of science degree in health sciences.

Georgia State University

ATLANTA, Ga. — Austin Bergeron of Raymond was named to the president’s list at Georgia State University.

Eligible students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit at the university.

DeSales University

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Kimberly Martel of Lewiston graduated May 18 from DeSales University with a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies during the university’s 55th commencement ceremony at the PPL Center.

Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Springfield College recognizes local students named to the dean’s list.

They are Madison McIntyre from Bridgton, a Health Science / Pre-PA major; Reese Merritt from Raymond, a Communication/Sport Journalism major; Giles Paradie from Auburn, a Psychology major; and Kaitlyn Plummer from Naples, Health Science / Pre-OT major.

Also, Trevor Robbins from Poland, a Sport Management major; Braxton Rowe from Turner, a Sport Management major; and Christina Scheid from Fryeburg, a History major.

Lasell University

NEWTON, Mass. — Five local students have been named to the dean’s list at Lasell University.

Dean’s list students must complete at least 12 credits as a full-time student in that semester and achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

U.S. Naval Academy

Kristina Cornelio

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Kristina Cornelio of Auburn completed four years of academic, physical and professional military training, and graduated May 24 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering and a commission as a U.S. Navy Ens. She is a graduate of The Taft School in Watertown, Conn.

At the academy Cornelio was a member of the Naval Academy Women’s Club Hockey Team. She was also Company Commander of the 14th Company last fall.

Cornelio is the daughter of Mark and Kathleen Cornelio of Auburn.

Lehigh University

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Owen Vincent of Auburn has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Lehigh University.

Dean’s list status is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.

Clarkson University

POTSDAM, N.Y. — Cassidy Ann Dumont of Norway, a junior majoring in engineering and management, was named a Presidential Scholar at Clarkson University.

Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 GPA and carry at least 14 credit hours.

Matthew Parent of Oakland and Henry Swift of Hebron have been named to the dean’s list at Clarkson University.

Dean’s list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 GPA and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Stonehill College

EASTON, Mass. — Three local students graduated May 19 during Stonehill College’s 73rd Commencement.

Assumption University

WORCESTER, Mass. — Assumption University has announced those who have been named to the dean’s list.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute

WORCESTER, Mass. — Two local students earned bachelor’s degrees on May 10 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute Commencement.

They are Serena Mower of Lewiston, who majored in computer science, and Cole Ouellette of Mechanic Falls, who majored in computer science.

Paul Smith’s College

PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. — Jade Blood of Lovell has been named to the Adirondack Scholars list at Paul Smith’s College. Blood also made the dean’s list.

Cedarville University

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Zion Marsters of Gray was named to the dean’s honor list at Cedarville University.

This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

The University of Maine at Augusta’s Lewiston Center

LEWISTON — The University of Maine at Augusta’s Lewiston Center recently announced its recent graduates from the Expanded Functions Dental Assisting program.

This cohort of EFDA graduates includes: Heather Kendall of Lewiston, Jenna Enos of Lewiston, Kiarra Wilson of Jay, Jennifer Mackenzie of Turner, and Ashley Hammer of Damariscotta.

Regis College

WESTON, Mass. — Regis College held its 94th commencement ceremony May 11.

Olivia Bell of Lisbon Falls graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nuclear medicine, and Rebecca Dixon of New Gloucester graduated with a BS in medical imaging.

The University of Maine at Farmington 

FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington recently announced that four of the 16 recently named 2024 Maine County Teachers of the Year are UMF Teacher Education graduates.

The Maine County Teachers of the Year are selected from nominations for Maine Teacher of the Year from each county. This year, more than 600 Maine teachers were nominated by a member of their school committee. After review, the County Teachers of the Year are announced, one of which will make it all the way to be named Maine Teacher of the Year the following year.

This year’s County Teachers of the Year who are UMF Teacher Education graduates include:

Androscoggin: Leah Boucher, UMF Class of 2018, Elementary Education, 4th Grade Teacher, Farwell Elementary School, Lewiston School Department.

University of the Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Owen Scala of Poland has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at University of the Cumberlands.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 for the semester, and be in good academic standing.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute

WORCESTER, Mass. — Nicholas Szuba of Bethel, a member of the class of 2024 majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense research project titled Designing a Radio Music Broadcast Interface For WICN.

Two local students recently completed their Worcester Polytechnic Institute Students Complete Intensive Research Projects.

Cole Ouellette of Mechanic Falls, class of 2024, majored in computer science, completed a project titled Isolation-Centric Operating Systems for the Enterprise.

Serena Mower of Lewiston, class of 2024, majored in computer science, completed a project titled Development of a Working Prototype and Pilot of Pillar.

WESTON, Mass. — Olivia Bell of Lisbon Falls, class of 2024, received the AMSA Award during the Regis College’s Student Leadership Awards Ceremony, an event that recognizes students who serve in leadership roles on campus, including clubs and organizations, who have made a significant impact on the Regis community over the last academic year.

Stonehill College

EASTON, Mass. — Lucy Frenette of Lewiston, a member of Stonehill College’s class of 2025, was honored at the institution’s Student Life Awards, held April 28. Each year, this program celebrates campus community members for their outstanding contributions to the betterment of Stonehill.

Jacques Ouellette of Lewiston, a member of Stonehill College’s class of 2024, was recently inducted into Lambda Epsilon Sigma, the institution’s academic honor society. The organization recognizes outstanding juniors and seniors who have demonstrated an excitement for both learning and sharing their knowledge.

Joining 23 other students from Stonehill College’s DECA chapter, Lucas Pushard of Auburn, a member of the class of 2025, recently participated in the International Career Development Conference in Austin, Texas. Stonehill students faced off against more than 200 schools in competitive case study events designed to prepare them to become leaders and entrepreneurs.

Curry College

MILTON,  Mass. — Curry College has welcomed Paige Bourgoin of Lewiston into the Business Management Honor Society, Sigma Beta Delta.

Curry’s School of Nursing has welcomed Ariana Vallee of Auburn into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing’s Theta-at-Large Chapter. Members must be in the upper 35% of their class and have completed at least half of the nursing curriculum.

Paige Bourgoin of Lewiston and Hannah Phelan of Durham are the 2024 inductees into the Alexander Graham Bell Honor Society.

Membership is limited to those students who have achieved the dean’s list every semester while enrolled at Curry College.
