WEST PARIS — We are taking our summer break following June worship services, which will be packed with inspiring topics you can use. Join us at 9 a.m. Music to be performed by guitarist, Davy Sturtevant. All are welcome; refreshments will follow the services.

Note that our last service until September is June 16. West Sumner Universalist Church services will be from July 7 to August 25. Worship services start at 11 a.m. with a luncheon afterward. See the dates of services below.

June 2, our annual music Sunday, ‘Toward the Light’ will be led by guests Tom Davis and Wendy Youmans, who will present “a heartfelt and grounding musical journey that will be equal parts welcoming, thought-provoking, uplifting, and inspirational.” Tom Davis is a retired minister of music who grew up in Bethel, worked in several churches in Maine, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, and returned to Bethel in 2012.

He lives with his wife Ann in Albany Township and assists with music at the West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel. Wendy Youmans has had the pleasure of singing with some extremely talented people over the years and feels very fortunate to have Tom Davis as a friend and musical mentor. A licensed clinical social worker by trade, Wendy’s day job is working in palliative care and hospice care.  She also teaches yoga, dabbles in dog training, and swims whenever she can!

June 9, ‘Ending on a good note – an option for Death & Dying’. Death Doulas Janet Willie and Lee Berry will lead the service and will be joined by vocalist Katey Branch and guitarist Davy Sturtevant. Through words and music, Janet and Lee will guide us through a subject many of us are unfamiliar with or uncomfortable with, yet we will all one day encounter.

June 16, ‘The Miracle of Seeds, A Flower Gardener’s Journey’ with guest Michelle Cloutier of Squash Pie Blossom. Michelle is a very creative person, who puts together a wide variety of cut flowers and dried flower arrangements and grows and sells organic perennials and annuals that she starts from seed.

She will share a slide show which describes her life journey through her passion for plants and flowers. This will also be our annual Flower Communion. Bring a flower to share. We’ll also have extras to share.
