The Bethel Recreation Department is in the middle of a busy baseball, softball and T-ball season, with 182 area kids playing on our teams. We have a Babe Ruth baseball team whose season will begin soon, 6 baseball teams and five softball teams playing in the Cal Ripken Andy Valley League with towns ranging from Harrison to Mechanic Falls and 4 teams in our T-ball program.

Our volunteer coaches, partnership with the school district and area towns to use fields and youth umpires are all critical to making this program happen. Thank you to all of those involved. Games will continue through the month of June.

Looking ahead, we will have a variety of summer youth programming available. There is a new middle school basketball program on Wednesday nights at the outdoor courts, there will be pick up soccer at Telstar starting in late June and we are still hoping to offer a track and field program with participation in the USTAF summer meet series, but need a few more volunteers to make this happen.

We are also offering swim lessons in partnership with the Mahoosuc Kids Association. Information on all these programs can be found on our registration website, bethelmaine.sportngin.com.

We are also looking at opportunities for adult programming, including the potential introduction of a co-ed slow pitch softball league. There appears to be a good amount of community interest in this and we are targeting an offering for July/August. Email [email protected] if you are interested in learning more about this or any other program that we offer.
