100 Years Ago: 1924
The No. 1 Advertising charge of J. M. Randolph was in Lewiston Monday and his crew of 26 billers immediately started to work putting up the flaring posters and bills that set forth the wonders innumerable of the big performance to be given Monday June 16.
The Sparks circus bears the distinction of being one of the oldest, largest and best, and this season’s program includes lions, tigers, leopards, polar and grizzly bears, llamas, seals and even trained acrobats.
It’s going to be one dog-gone thrill after another from opening spectacle “An Egyptian Fantasy,” to the great Sparks group of fighting lions and many gasps of wonderment will be evidenced in the two hour program rendered under the “big top” of this famous circus.
50 Years Ago: 1974
An Auburn resident has been appointed director of sales for Sanborn’s Motor Express, Inc., it was announced by Arthur Tardosky, vice president of marketing and sales.
Robert E. Jordan of 121 Field Avenue, will be responsible for sales analysis, advertising, training, and coordinating the overall terminal sales team which is anticipated to generate revenues in excess of $17,000,000 this year.
25 Years Ago: 1999
Nearly 170 volunteers were recognized for more than 30,000 hours of service to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center at a Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held at the LePage Conference Center.
The event was part of the annual celebration of St. Mary’s to recognize the commitment and dedicated services of volunteers who help out the facility all year long.
The event was organized by Joyce Paradis, Director of Volunteer Services at St. Mary’s. Among special guests was Les Myles, chief operating officer for Sisters of Charity Health System and Joe Bousquet, vice president for human resources at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Sisters of Charity Health System.
