LIVERMORE – David Mercier, 82, of Livermore passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him.
He was born June 20, 1941, in Livermore Falls, the second oldest of six children of Joseph and Eleanor (Richards) Mercier. He attended schools in Livermore Falls and was a 1959 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.
After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country from 1959-1962. On Sept. 25, 1965, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay he married his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Castonguay. They lived in Chisholm before moving to the home they built in Livermore where they raised their four children.

He was very supportive of his children and helped them throughout their lives. David enjoyed family camping trips, archery, open water fishing, hunting, ice fishing and snowmobiling.
He especially treasured watching his children’s and grandchildren’s many school and sporting events through their high school years following his granddaughter Hunter’s basketball career through her college years. He also followed his son’s baseball coaching career and was a supportive fixture at many baseball games. David was known for his mischievous and playful sense of humor with family members and co-workers alike.
He loved animals and took care of many family pets through the years. His many hobbies included photography, carpentry, fixing mechanical problems, watching Westerns and sporting events on TV, rooting for the Red Sox, gardening, planting trees and taking care of his property on Long Pond. David enjoyed social visits with friends and neighbors and extended family. David or “Pepere” had a special bond with each of his grandchildren and, like his wife, was interested in their lives and very proud of their many accomplishments.
