Jeannine M. Cote
LEWISTON – Jeannine M. Cote, 94, of Lewiston died peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at D’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
She was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Arthur and Jeanette (Gonthier) Poulin. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948.
On Sept. 30, 1950, she married Guy G. Pilote. Together they had six children. On Nov. 23, 1973, she was married to Romeo M. Cote and together they had one daughter.
She was a member of Holy Family Church and Covenant 50. She worked at Lincoln’s Department Store on Lisbon Street, Federal Shoe Company, The Lewiston Drive In and at McMahon School as a cooks helper. She enjoyed going on trips, camping, dancing, playing cards and going out to eat. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Pauline Eby of Maryland, Jacqueline Eschle (John) of Friendship, Louise Tancrede of Lewiston and Susan Shaw (Eben) of Turner; three sons, William H. Pilote (Carl) of Friendship, Eugene Pilote (Marian) of Rockwood, Guy M. Pilote (Susan) of Lewiston and Florida; five stepsons, Reginald Cote (Louise) of Lewiston, Richard Cote (David) of Maryland, Roger Cote (Jeanne) of Florida, Frank Cote (Rumiko) of Texas and Mark Cote of Washington; two stepdaughters, Pauline Boucher of Lewiston and Calvin White (Gordon) of Vermont; stepdaughters-in-law, Mary Cote of Greene and Monique Cote of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; 18 stepgreat- grandchildren; and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Poulin of Auburn; sister-in-law Patricia Poulin of Lewiston; and many nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors.
She was predeceased by her parents, husbands, Guy G. Pilote and Romeo M. Cote; a brother Normand Poulin; sister-in-law Patricia Poulin; stepsons, Ronald Cote and John Cote and her grandchildren, Nicholas Pilote and Renee Jeannette Pilote-Tancrede and many special family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Schooner Estates especially Shawn for making her comfortable in her home away from home in the past year. We would also like to thank the staff and caregivers at D’Youville Pavilion for taking good care of her these past few months especially Kaye, Kate, Mo, Alexis and Otis and Anita from Helping Hands and recently her hospice care team, neighbors Nel Lacroix, Barbara, Bob and Jackie Marquis, Bob and Eileen Gauthier and D’Youville roommate Cecile for always looking out for her.
A Funeral Mass honoring Jeannine’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church. Committal prayers will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
