Edwin Matti Kahkonen

AUBURN – Edwin Matti Kahkonen, 97, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024. Eddie grew up on his family’s farm in South Paris. This is where he met his beloved wife of 62 years Marjorie. Eddie enlisted in the army and served in World War II.

After serving he worked in logging and then his driving career. driving truck for Bassey, Cushman’s and then Shaw’s. Eddie was an avid outdoors enthusiast enjoying fishing, hunting and yard work. Traveling with his wife was another passion they shared. Their endeavors took them to all us states and even as far as his hailing country Finland to visit his many relatives. Eddie will be deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Kahkonen, parents, Mattie and Ida Kahkonen, sons, Tom Roderick and Ken Roderick, daughter Belinda Gagnon and brothers Eino Kahkonen and Alpo Kahkonen. He will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Edweina Terrell and partner Bill Finney, Kathleen Farrington and son-in-law Norman. Sister-in-law Carmen Kahkonen and daughter-in-law Nancy Roderick. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Bradley, Ryker Terrell and Rae Lynn Woodward.
