Albert “Al” Malcolm Fereshetian Jr.
TURNER – Albert “Al” Malcolm Fereshetian Jr. of Turner, died peacefully in his sleep on June 22, 2024, with a full heart. He was a man with many passions who had two main priorities in his life; to live by the teachings of Jesus and to love his family.
Al was born on Jan. 27, 1958, in Arlington, Mass. to Albert and Geraldine Fereshetian, the younger brother of Lorraine. As a child, he loved spending time at his father’s donut shop and playing ice hockey. Eventually, he developed a deep love of running which fueled his lifelong career as a cross country and track and field coach. Al had the privilege of coaching many young men to a number of championships and All-American titles at Kansas University, Appalachian State University, and Bates College. His real joy was getting to watch his athletes grow as men, both on and off the track.
Al had the great honor of sharing life with two incredible women of God. He met his first wife, Susan, at the University of New Hampshire. Together they created a family and life for their four children, Vanessa, Lauren, Justin, and Allison. After Sue’s passing, Al married Tammy and gained another daughter, Cassie. He and Tammy loved spending time with their beloved family. He was always the first person to offer to help with any task and was a supporter for each family member’s interests. Almost nightly, he could be found playing a variety of stringed instruments and has even built his own guitar.
Al strongly believed in standing for freedom and protecting the blessings of liberty. He served as an elder at Fayette Baptist Church and loved ministering to others. He wanted those he encountered to know God’s love and embrace Christ and take heart in knowing that he is at home and present with the Lord. In a letter to his family, Al said, “I have been set free!”
Al was predeceased by his first wife, Sue; father, Albert, and mother, Geraldine.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; sister, Lorraine; children, Vanessa Mallory and her husband Dan, Cassie, Lauren, Justin and his wife LeAnn, and Allison Getch and her husband Keith; and grandchildren, Sarah and Mark Mallory.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m., at East Auburn Baptist Church in Auburn. There will be a reception with food and fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Al would be honored if donations in his name are made to any of the following organizations:
*Chosen People Ministries
*Fellowship of Christian Athletes
*Maine Outdoor Wellness Center
