COUNTY — Join Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District on July 19 from 3-5 p.m. for a walk and talk style presentation at the Tenmile River Demonstration Forest, located on the Hiram/Brownfield town line.
Join Sean Horan, Climate Smart Agriculture & Forestry professional with NRCS & the UMaine Extension to explore the intricate relationships between the species in our forests and discuss innovative strategies for mitigating the effects of climate change, pests, and other threats.
Michele Windsor, program manager at Oxford County SWCD will demonstrate some timber stand improvement practices currently in use at the demo forest and some ways that we are increasing biodiversity by planting native species. Participants will leave with a better understanding of our forests and ideas they can use on their own property.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
