Carrie Ann Gammon
RUMFORD – Carrie Ann Gammon, 45, of Rumford passed away on July 2, 2024, after a long and valiant battle with chronic illness.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1978, in Rumford. She was the youngest daughter of Sandra and Garry Gammon. She attended Rumford area schools and was a graduate of Mountain Valley High School, class of 1997.
Carrie Ann was a talented artist and expressed her artistry with nail design after graduating from Cosmotech School of Cosmetology in 2000. She worked for various salons until finally opening her own salon, Simplicity, in 2008. Despite ongoing medical challenges, she continued to work until the time of her death. Many of her clients had been with her since the beginning.
Carrie Ann was a strong-willed free spirit. She loved people and was very social. She was often described as being feisty and “back in the day” could be seen driving around town in her red Pontiac Firebird. She loved music and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” was definitely one of her anthems. Later in life she loved driving large pick-up trucks. She loved nature and animals and always shared her home with both cats and dogs (always plural).
Carrie Ann was a unique soul and enjoyed unique things like tattoos and vintage keepsakes. Her favorite season was autumn. Not only was she born in the fall, but her favorite holiday was Halloween and she always loved Fryeburg Fair. She loved to cook and she loved caring for her home nestled high in the Western Mountains on a dead-end road. This was her happy place.
Carrie Ann was generous and would never hesitate to give to others even when she had little to give. Carrie Ann was kind and fair and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. Carrie Ann would rather give than receive.
Carrie Ann was loved by many people. We will never forget who she was and what she meant to us.
Carrie Ann is survived by her parents Sandy and Garry Gammon, her maternal grandparents Marie and Millett Coffin, with whom she shared a very special bond, her sister and brother-in-law Marcie and Joshua Coulombe, beloved niece and nephew Lilah and Liam Coulombe, her biological father Milan Gammon Jr. and his wife Maureen and half-sisters Michelle, and son Connor, and Sara. She also leaves behind a special Uncle Tom Coffin and his husband John McCurtin, and her special Aunt Sylvia Heald. And of course, her dogs Lyle and Marjorie, and cats Walter and Kenny.
Carrie Ann was predeceased by her paternal grandparents June and Milan Gammon Sr., and uncles Frank Coffin and Derrick Gammon.
