LEWISTON — Munka Studio and Gallery is set to host a Ukrainian Cuisine Night, a live Ukrainian cooking demonstration.
This event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Saint Mary’s Nutrition Center, 208 Bates St. Cooks Yuliia Budylo and Inna Cherednichenko will teach the audience how to cook a traditional Ukrainian meal, which consists of two dishes: Borscht, a hearty vegetable soup, and Varenyky, Ukrainian dumplings filled with cheese.
This cooking demonstration is one event in a series hosted by Munka Gallery with the goal of spotlighting Ukrainian Culture. To Budylo, this event is of particular importance.
“I have a lot of good memories cooking this kind of food in Ukraine. It means a lot to me to share this part of my culture with people in my new home,” says Budylo, according to a news release from the gallery. Cherednichenko is also eager to engage with the Lewiston community. “Borscht and Varenyky are meant to be shared with friends. I’m happy to share this food with new friends in Lewiston,” says Cherednichenko.
One can buy tickets to this event on Eventbrite for $25 each. For more information on the cooking demonstration, visit the Facebook event or visit the Munka Studio and Gallery Instagram @munkastudioandgallery.
