BETHEL — The Northern Forest Center held a Restoration in Action demonstration at the Gehring House on June 26. Over thirty-five people attended to learn more about the work involved in historic preservation, including the repair and replacement of the sills throughout the building.

We are grateful to our team at Woodhull and the carpenters from On The Level for taking the time to show participants what’s involved in this careful restoration and preservation work throughout the building. Restoration of the deteriorating sills is partially funded by a grant from The 1772 Foundation in cooperation with Maine Preservation.

Community members, local businesses, and others have already shown amazing support for the rehabilitation of the entire Gehring House. We need community support to raise at least $250,000 to unlock a $250,000 challenge gift from a generous donor. Please reach out to Program Manager, Amy Scott, if you would like to learn more about the Gehring House redevelopment, or visit our website to support this project.
