Carissa Marie Millbury
MADRID – Carissa Marie Millbury, a woman of unwavering strength and determination, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024. She was surrounded by loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born Nov. 26, 1977, to Scott Millbury and Chiquita Swiney. Carissa grew up in Phillips Maine with a tenacious spirit that defined her character throughout life. Her strong will and determination were evident from a young age, shaping her into the remarkable woman we will forever remember.
As a mother and yaya, Carissa was the embodiment of love and dedication. She poured her heart into raising and shaping her children into strong, capable and independent adults.
Professionally, Carissa excelled through her hard work and persistence with various titles. She was a CNA with Strong Nursing Home for many years. A job she took pride in and continued to speak about in her final years. Carissa faced many chronic health challenges with the same resilience that defined her life. Over many years she never wavered in her strength and determination. Anyone who knows Carissa knows it was her way or the highway. A trait she never lost.
Carissa is survived by her parents, Scott Millbury and (wife Daphne) Chiquita (Swiney); her beloved children, Brooke-Lyn Millbury and fiancé Austin, and Colbyn Ross; two grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Grayson and Paityn; brothers and sisters, Amanda Libby and husband Andy, Elizabeth Swiney, Jason Swiney and wife Mandi, and Cary-Scott Millbury and wife Lisa; a cousin she loved as a sister, Andrea Garrett and husband Dave; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, whom she held very close to her heart; her gram and life long best friend, Elizabeth (Betty) Millbury; and more friends than anyone would ever be able to count.
Carissa is predeceased by her brother and best friend, Bruce Collins; her stepfather, Donald Swiney; and a man who “walked on water”, her grandpa, Donald (Donkey) Millbury.
A graveside burial will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Rangeley Cemetery. A Celebration of life will follow.
