100 Years Ago: 1924
Miss Lucie Sanborn entertained her dancing school pupils at her Wilton home Wednesday afternoon. The party of little folks enjoyed themselves “in the open.”
A delicious lunch of cake, cookies, punch, chocolate and candy kisses, added to their enjoyment.
50 Years Ago: 1974
A stuck car horn broke the still of the night early this morning in Auburn.
At about 12:45 a.m., Sgt. Hugh Brown heard a horn blowing in the yard at Auburn Motor Sales, Inc., and upon investigation discovered the noise was stemming from a 1974 Pinto, on display.
Sgt. Brown said he had no way of stopping the noise because the vehicle was all locked up, so James Harder of the firm was called to the scene and he took care of it.
25 Years Ago: 1999
If there seems to be fewer kids on the streets of Lewiston this summer it’s not because of the heat or because they are all inside playing Nintendo.
At least 900 youngsters are enjoying a summer camp experience. For many children, it is their first.
A couple of thank you cards are in order.
The first one is addressed to the Libre Foundation. The nonprofit group allocated $1.2 million to make a summer camp experience available to every Lewiston public school student between 8 and 12.
