James P. Barrett
AUBURN – James P. Barrett, 93, a resident of Leeds, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, at Clover Health Care. He was born July 2, 1931, in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of Lewis M. Barrett and Gertrude (Boyle) Barrett. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and of Bentley College where he received his accounting degree. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Nov. 24, 1955, in Lowell, Massachusetts, he married May R. Stephens. They shared 36 wonderful years together raising their children, Mark, Pamala, and Susan. His beloved wife, May, passed away on July 15, 1992. James worked at Ludlow, Zayres, and the Value House as the security director, and for the IRS. After retiring he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Turner. In his younger years he enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of Augusta Tennis Club. He enjoyed doing sudoku puzzles, watching game shows and being with family and friends. He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela L. Barker of Leeds and Susan M. Regna and husband Brian of Edwardsville, IL, his son Mark Barrett of Leeds, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his faithful dog, Timber and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 12 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be at River Grove Cemetery, River Road, Leeds, Maine.
