Marie (Jeanne) Levesque
AUBURN – Marie (Jeanne) Levesque, 95, passed away on July 29, 2024 in the company of her loved ones by her bedside. She was born on May 12, 1929 in Portland. She was adopted and raised by her loving Aunt Rose and Uncle Honorius Morency.
She attended schools in Lewiston. She was employed for many years in the shoe manufacturing industry at Knapp Shoe. She also enjoyed giving back to the community and spent time working for St. Peter’s School in the late 50’s and 60’s. She also devoted time as a public servant and did security for Liberty Mutual for 13 years where she retired.
Marie enjoyed many hobbies and kept herself busy with music, singing, sewing, crocheting, hairdressing and cooking. She loved working with her hands in the garden and was very proud of her flowers and vegetable gardens.
She loved contributing to the ministry and was immensely proud to be a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lewiston where she was an organist for 25 years. She was an active member (with Bob Hall) in the “Giving Ministry.” The Giving Ministry was a Gospel song program that went to nursing homes in the area. Marie enjoyed keeping busy and was a member of Horizon 55 and the Golden Agers Club (part of First Assembly of God) where she was treasurer for three years. She moved to Ocala, Florida in 2002 and was a member of The Christian Life Assembly of God where she was head of the Christian Life Singles. Marie was also in the singing ministry.
Marie is survived by her daughter Susan Engebritson, son Daniel Levesque and his wife Karla; three grandchildren Karie Caraballo, Mark Levesque, and Ryan Levesque; eight great grandchildren Josilyn Dela Cruz, Kristopher Caraballo, Karina Caraballo, Christian, Brooke, Abbi, Beckett, and Callen Levesque; one step sister Marguerite Caron; and a nephew Richard Morency.
She was predeceased by her husband Rene Levesque; her adopted parents Honorius and Rose Morency, biological parents Joel Bizier and Yvonne Guilman Colby; half sisters Joan Reiley and Claudette Binette, adopted brother John Morency; granddaughter Kimberly Engebritson; and nephew John Paul Morency.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Clover Manor for their dedicated and caring of their mother; Rita, Nita, Ruben, Alaina, and all others caring for her. Her friends at Clover Jackie, Sam, Gisele, GiGi, and others.
