Leonard Ellis
NEW VINEYARD – Leonard Ellis, 86, of New Vineyard, passed away on Aug. 8, 2024, in Norridgewock. He was born on March 7, 1938, in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the son of Benjamin and Laura (Knight) Ellis.
He studied the craft of oil burning and started his own business, Ellis Brothers, on Martha’s Vineyard. After meeting his wife, Carol, they moved to New Vineyard, in 1984. He then turned his talents to making dollhouses, creating a total of 258.
Leonard was a kind, humorous, and social person. He was always willing to help someone, even those he had never met, and his knowledge of oil burning was akin to Beethoven’s mastery of music. He was a 58-year Mason and loved being a part of the craft.
He is remembered by his three sons, Gary, Scott, and Brian Ellis.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., on Sunday, October 13, at New Vineyard Cemetery on Route 27. Everyone who wishes to attend is most welcome. Memories may be shared in Leonard’s Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com. Honored to be caring for the family of Leonard Ellis is Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
