Lorraine A. Lapointe

AUBURN – Lorraine A. Lapointe, 88, of Auburn, passed peacefully at Clover Health Care on Aug. 13, 2024.

Born in Lewiston, Lorraine went to St. Mary’s Catholic School and also worked for the nuns cleaning the church. In 1955, Lorraine married Philip Lapointe of Auburn, and they had two children, Deborah and Ronald.

Lorraine spent most of her career as a stitcher in the local shoe factories and was a dedicated mother to her two children, taking them to baton and hockey practices. She loved to cook, try new recipes and enjoyed feeding her family and friends. She also loved spending time with her four grandchildren and attended many school events.

She always jumped at the chance to travel, took bus trips to see new things, and even traveled to Italy to visit her granddaughter. Lorraine was loved by many for her sweet and loving nature, infectious smile and laugh and positive outlook.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband of 67 years.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Christie (and Ted) of Westport Island, Ronald Lapointe (and Samantha) of Harpswell; brother-in-law, Wilfred Lapointe; niece, Rachel Lapointe, nephew, Larry Lapointe; and four loving grandchildren, Nicole Lapointe Haeberle, Nick Gagnon, Maxwell Lapointe and Riley Lapointe.
