To the Editor:
Bruce Bryant is running for State Senate, District 19, and deserves our support. Bruce worked hard to improve our lives when previously elected as State Senator and State Representative. His work included serving as President of the River Valley Technology Center which he helped create. The goal of this Center was to incubate new businesses and to develop education and training courses such as precision metalworker training. His concern in the health care area led him to help develop a dialysis center; work to lower the cost of prescription drugs; sponsor the meningococcal notification bill; sponsor bills for the recognition of Lyme disease; help small businesses pay for employee health insurance by banding together under the Dirigo Health Insurance program. Bruce has shown us he doesn’t just make pledges and vague promises. He actually gets things done to give Mainers a better life.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
