DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have three United States flags inherited from my late in-laws. They are large, measuring 3 feet by 5 feet or larger.

One was flown ceremoniously over the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu. Since I have a flag of my own, I would like to find someone who will accept these extras. I do not want to destroy them, even if disposal meets accepted standards.

Do you know of any individual or organization who will accept these flags for safekeeping and perhaps display?—Chris, no town

ANSWER: Contact your nearest American Legion, including Auburn (207-783-6992 and 207-782-1118), Sabattus (207-375-4058) and Lisbon (207-353-8192).

You can also call Jerry Dewitt, chair of the Lewiston and Auburn Veterans Council, at 207-576-0376. He is involved with the Veterans Memorial Park in Lewiston and can help you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there an organization that takes men’s clothing to give to the needy? My husband recently passed away and I would like his clothing to go to someone who needs them, not where they will be turned into rags. —No name, Roxbury

ANSWER: The Pleasant St. Drop-In Center at 169 Pleasant St. in Auburn often puts out requests for clothing for males, especially underwear and socks. I am sure they could also use men’s shirts and sweaters, jeans, shoes and any outerwear, including coats, hats, gloves and boots. The weather is nice now, but evenings can still be chilly, and as much as we hate to think of it, winter is just around the corner.

Sleeping bags and tarps are also always needed.

Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

If you are involved with a nonprofit organization, send me your wish list. I will help spread the word.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am cleaning out an estate for someone and do not know where to go for help. The person has a lot of compact discs, tapes, and cameras. What do I do with them or where can I take them?

Also, I need the address for Arcadia Community Solar. —No name, no town

ANSWER: If the compact discs and tapes (I am assuming they are VHS) are in good, playable condition, you can donate them to Goodwill, or see if Bull Moose at the Lewiston Mall (207-784-6463) wants to buy them from you.

The cameras might be of interest to another Sun Spotter, or you can offer them to a local photography club or to the art department of a local high school. Members often know how to repair them and can use them. If you do not know of one, Photo Finish at the Auburn Mall (207-783-3354) might be able to help.

The address for Arcadia Community Solar is 120 Exchange St., Suite 220, Portland, ME 04101.
