Jeffrey J. Gniadek

PORTLAND – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeffrey “Jeff” J. Gniadek of Otisfield, Maine, who passed peacefully at the age of 67 on August 19, 2024, after an acute illness.

Jeff was the son of Rudolph J. Gniadek and Annie J. (Jacobs) of Uxbridge, Mass. He was a loving husband to Diane Gniadek (Poliquin) of Otisfield; a father to Julie Anne Gniadek of Ossipee, NH and Steven J. Gniadek of Northbridge, Mass. Jeff is survived by a brother, David Gniadek and his wife Robin Gniadek (Brundage) of Uxbridge, Mass., and several nephews.

Jeff was born on Dec. 16, 1956, in Uxbridge, Mass. He was a graduate of Blackstone Valley Technical Institute (BVT), class of 1974. He later attended Central New England College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1986. He was employed by Bay State Abrasives as a draftsman and continued to work for several local companies including Riley Stoker, Nelmor, Fons, and Senko. Jeff retired from Senko in 2017. He is associated with over 100 patents worldwide.

Jeff met the love of his life, Diane, in 1976 and they later married in 1979. Second to the love he had for his wife and family, Jeff loved motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and building his dream home on Moose Pond in Maine. He was also an avid New England sports fan.

Sadly, in February 2021, Jeff was diagnosed with Multiple Systemic Atrophy (MSA), a rare form of Parkinson’s Disease. Despite his disease, he remained active in his projects as much as he was able. Jeff was quoted as saying, “I am so grateful for having my wife helping me along emotionally and eventually physically. Maybe the cure is love? If so, I will have a huge supply of cure from my family and friends.”

Jeff will be remembered for his quick wit, generosity, hard work, compassion, creativity, and sense of humor.

A celebration of life will be held at Buma Funeral Home, 101 N Main Street, Uxbridge, Mass. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.. Interment will be held in Otisfield at a future date.
