Richard E. Tayman Jr.

OXFORD – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Richard “Rick” Tayman Jr., on Aug. 2, 2024.

Rick was born on Nov. 4, 1972, in Portland. He lived most of his life at his beloved lake on Hogan Pond in Oxford. Rick also lived in Auburn with the love of his life Melissa. His dream house remains currently under construction.

Rick was known for his kindness, generosity, craftsmanship, and love of animals. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend who always put others before himself. Rick would literally take the shirt off his back, the sneakers off his feet, or the dinner off his plate to help others in need. He often provided shelter and a helping hand for those in need and loved to rehabilitate wild animals who were struggling. His profession as a painter, carpenter, and electrician were top notch.

Rick is survived by his longtime companion of over 10 years, Melissa Guay and her daughter Samantha of Auburn; his parents, Richard and Kathy Tayman of Oxford; his sister Alicia Depatsy of Portland; his brother Michael Tayman and companion Dori Griffiths of Oxford; his daughter Jenna Tayman and granddaughter Stella of Gray; his daughter Danielle Gladu and companion Mike Colantoni of Saco; his grandmother Priscilla Gowell and her husband Bill of Scarborough and Oxford; and his dog and best friend, Coopie Boy.

Richard Taymen Jr. will be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering loyalty, and the joy he brought to those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

The family will hold a private celebration of life in his honor. Arrangements are under the care of Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford. Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rick’s memory to the Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, Maine 04240.
