Cheryl Vikki Deshaies

FARMINGTON – Cheryl Vikki Deshaies, 71, of Farmington, passed away on Sept. 2, 2024, at Sandy River Nursing Home.

She was born in Farmington on May 21, 1953, the daughter of Lewis Gray and Althea (Seamon) Hoisington. She attended Jay schools and graduated from Livermore Falls High School.

She held various positions at Livermore Falls Shoe and later worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Pomeroy Hill. On June 20, 1981, Cheryl married Willie Deshaies, and together they worked side by side at Deshaies Lobster Salad.

Cheryl was a devoted communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay where her faith and kindness touched many lives. She was a proud member of the Emblem Club, where she dedicated her time and energy to supporting various charitable causes and fostering a sense of camaraderie among her peers.

She spent the majority of her life in Jay, where she cherished the community and the friendships she formed. In March 2018, she moved to Sandy River Nursing Home in Farmington, where she continued to touch the lives of everyone around her. Cheryl found joy in visits from friends and family, enjoyed playing card games with her dear friend Juanita, and had a deep appreciation for flowers, admiring their vibrant colors and delicate petals. Bingo nights were a source of great happiness for her, filled with joy and laughter.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sandy River Nursing Home for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Cheryl.

She is survived by her aunts Miriam Ewing of Port Charlotte, Fla., Brenda Endicott (Clyde Young) of Freeport, and Dawn Seamon of Spring Hill, Fla., her uncle, David D. Vale of South Windsor, Conn.; her sisters-in-law Mary Ann “Mimi” Nelson of Farmington and Elaine Doiron of Livermore Falls; various cousins, including a special cousin, Tina Whalen, and her children, Anna, Lilly, and Julia; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Karen Bryant, who spent countless days at Cheryl’s side; and four stepbrothers, Steven, David, Richard Jr., and Scott.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years; her parents, her stepfather, Richard Hoisington; and many aunts, uncles; and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend Cheryl’s memorial visitation on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center in Jay, 308 Franklin Rd., where her funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., followed by a reception with refreshments provided by the Emblem Club. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with committal prayers led by Father Paul Dumais. Memories can be shared in Cheryl’s Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com.
