PEABODY, Mass. – Bruce M. Poole, 72, passed away at his home in Peabody, Mass. on Aug. 4, 2024.
He was born in Gardiner on May 29, 1952 to Hazen and Joyce (Bubier) Poole. Bruce graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1970, and received his bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Northeastern University.
After college he worked at the New England Aquarium where he was a member of the curatorial staff, dove in the giant ocean tank and participated in collection exhibitions throughout New England and the Caribbean. He went on to start his own business, Sea Plantations, Inc., in Salem, Mass. where he spent his career designing and building treatment systems throughout New York, Canada and Mexico and raised fish.
He was the choir director and sat on the board of First Baptist Church, Lynn where he led the congregation in hymns every Sunday, built a community garden and led many construction projects. Bruce was a fisherman, birder, hunter and storyteller.
He is survived by his daughter Sarah Poole; siblings Sherry Giberti, Deb Sampson, Scott Poole and Deena Powers; and his former wife, Vida.
An immediate family graveside service will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner St., Auburn at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. A celebration of life luncheon for family and friends will follow at the Danville Grange Hall, 15 Grange St., Auburn at 1 p.m.
