Betty Ann (Richard) Baillargeon
LEWISTON – We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Betty Ann (Richard) Baillargeon, on Sept. 16, 2024.
Daughter of Norman and Agnes Tardiff, she was adopted and raised by William and Nellie Richard of Lewiston.
Our mother married the love of her life, Emery Edward Baillargeon, May 15, 1961. Together they shared 57 wonderful years of true love before his passing in March of 2020.
Shortly after marriage, they welcomed their first of five boys, Richard Jerome. Robert Lionel was welcomed shortly after, followed by John Raymond, James Emery and Gary Edward.
Betty worked as a CNA for many years before going to work at Bates as a housekeeper and later security, where she would eventually retire. She raised five rambunctious boys whom she loved with her entire being, doing whatever necessary to raise and care for, which was no easy task.
Mom was a firm believer and devoted Christian. She enjoyed sitting at the ocean and watching sunsets. She also enjoyed the serenity of camp up in Jackman. Mom’s favorite pastimes included Bingo and Yahtzee with Aunt Diane and her sister, Connie. Our mother loved family time and spending time with those she loved dearly. Our mom shared a love of cribbage with our father and together they passed that love down to many generations.
Betty was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Emery; and her son, Jim; her sisters Connie, Joanne and Linda, brother, Larry, as well as a stepbrother, Laurent “Sonny” Richard.
Our mom will be greatly missed by son, Rick, of Monmouth and former daughter-in-law, Terry of Wayne, son, Bob and wife, Sue of Auburn, son, John of Leeds and former daughter-in-law Candy (Bon Bon) of Lewiston, former daughter-in-law, Crystal of Lewiston and son, Gary and wife Kim of Oxford. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
