Louis N. Boucher
BRUNSWICK – Louis N. Boucher, 89, of Brunswick passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in St. Agatha on Jan. 9, 1935, a son of the late Belone and Modeste (Plourde) Boucher. He grew up there until the age of 13 when he moved to Lewiston where he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of 1953 .
After high school, Louis joined the Coast Guard and proudly served his country as a 2nd Class Petty Officer during the Korean conflict. In 1957, Louis married Irene Chaloux and they started a family together. After returning from his military service, he worked in carpentry and construction, and eventually retired as Director of Inspections for the City of Waterville. In addition, he and his wife owned and managed the Starlight Motel in Brunswick from 1960 – 1968. He and Irene raised their four children in Brunswick and Lewiston and, finally, in Waterville. Upon retirement, Louis and Irene purchased a home in Florida for their winters and spent their summers at “camp” in Harmony.
Louis will always be remembered for his love of family, camp, building things and New England Sports. In 1988, the family purchased land on Great Moose Lake. Louis then built his masterpiece – camp. He built a five bedroom, completely winterized house without a written design plan and with precision standards. He would be the one to cook the lobsters and clams at our lively family reunions. He was quiet, calm, hardworking and honest in all he did. He will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Irene, of Brunswick, his children and their spouses; Judy Noonan (Mike) of Brunswick, Linda Boucher-Mondale (Tim) of Nashua, NH, Karen Romano (Tom) of Yarmouth, and Dale Boucher (Nathalie) of Lewiston, and 10 grandchildren; Kyle Noonan (Kelly) of Scarborough, Nick Noonan (Amy) of Venice, Calif., Kate Cloutier (Nick) of Harpswell, Luke Noonan (Kerrilyn) of Northport, Fla., Marielle Mondale of Nashua, N.H., Jameson Mondale of Nashua, N.H., Christopher Romano of Portland, Jack Romano of New York City, Nicholas Boucher (Meghan) of Bangor, Cameron Boucher (Mariah) of Lewiston; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 10 of his 11 siblings.
