Troy Donn Hunt

PORTLAND – Troy Donn Hunt, 55, of Cumberland Foreside passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, due to complications related to diabetes. He was born in Lewiston, on Jan. 17, 1969, a son of Donald and Sylvia (Bell) Hunt.

Troy attended Yarmouth High School, where he was a varsity athlete in both soccer and tennis. He graduated in June 1987. Troy was always interested in how things worked … especially when it came to cars, computers and electronics. He worked in the auto salvage and repair business for many years alongside his late father, Don, at Columbia Auto Parts in South Carolina. He later worked for LKQ (a Ford Motor Company) while living in Maine.

His hobbies included outdoor activities (of any kind), working on cars, fixing “things”, listening to music and eating great food. When it came to music, he was well known in his younger years for his love of the band U2 (not surprising, as he was always fiercely proud of his Irish heritage). While Troy enjoyed/cooked food from all over the world, he was especially fond of Japanese cuisine (which he fell in love with while living in Seattle) and authentic Mexican cuisine (from his time living in Southern California).

Those who knew Troy best will remember him as highly intelligent, a bit mischievous, naturally curious and always kind to those he cared for.

He was predeceased by his loving father Donald W. Hunt, his uncle Lester Bell and all his grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother Sylvia Hunt, of Cumberland Foreside, his brother Dennis and wife Lorraine of Yarmouth and his niece and nephew Sierra and Trevor Hunt (with whom he had a very special bond).

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.
