Douglas K. Grant
PORTLAND – It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Douglas Keith Grant, who left us on Sept. 24, 2024 at the age of 62 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Doug was born in Marlborough, Mass. on Nov. 10, 1961, the son of Harold and Marilyn (Long) Grant. When he was a child, his family relocated to his parents’ home state of Maine.
A gifted woodcrafter, Doug worked for several local furniture companies and also built luxury yachts. Having a passion for motorcycles, he completed Harley Mechanics Training at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Florida and spent several years working as a motorcycle mechanic. His other interests included fishing, stamp collecting, classic cars, American military history, building models, being outdoors, and spending time with his closest friends and family.
Lovingly referred to as “Papa”, Doug is survived by his children, Albert Grant and Diana Dumeny; his grandchildren, Evan, Chloe, Hunter, and Colban; and four siblings. Doug was also eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild, Gunnar.
A strong, generous, and hardworking man, Dad always put others before himself. The love he had for his children and grandchildren was unconditional and unwavering. Our love for him is just as strong; we will miss him dearly. Dad will live on through that love and the memories we hold close.
Per the family’s request, services at the funeral home for Doug will be private. However, online condolences and fond memories may be shared with his family at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
Arrangements are under the care of Albert & Burpee Funeral Home & Cremation Services 253 Pine St. Lewiston, 782-7201.
In lieu of flowers, the family has expressed interest and appreciation in the “Plant a Tree” option on the funeral home’s website.
