This is a letter to all voters — I have a favor to ask.
Election Day is fast approaching, and in my recollection today the country — our country — is as polarized as it has ever been. What to do?
I’m sure each of those reading this has a friend, or at least an acquaintance, of the opposite political persuasion. This is what I’m asking: on Monday night, Nov. 4, people should call a friend of the opposite political persuasion and arrange to go to the polls together on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Election Day.
When they arrive at the polling place they toss a coin — the loser votes first, the winner votes second. Then the winner takes the loser out for a meal. When a winner is declared, and it might take more than a week, the winner takes the loser out for a meal.
This country — America — is everybody’s.
Let’s stick together.
