Donald Wright Fogg
NORWAY – Donald Wright Fogg, 85, of Norway passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hartford, Conn. on Dec. 20, 1938, the son of Ralph Herbert Fogg, Sr. and Elizabeth Rose Chizmar Fogg. Before graduating from Norway High School in 1957 he worked for farmers in the area during hay season.
Don served 20 years in the U. S. Marine Corps. Starting in 1957 he served three years, reenlisting in 1966 where he served until 1983. He served during the Vietnam war as a wireman and later transferred to the air wing as an electronics technician on the A-6 Intruder Aircraft. He was stationed at Cherry Point, NC, El Toro, Calif., Norfolk, Va., and several overseas Japan and Okinawa, etc. When he retired he had the rank of Master Sergeant.
Donald married Emilia Bedard on June 17, 1961.
Donald attended the University of Maine in Augusta and graduated on May 14, 1988, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He worked as an accountant for several businesses in the area.
Don was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Oxford Advent Christian Church. He was a stamp collector which he enjoyed very much over the years. He also was a faithful follower of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He is survived by his wife Emilia of Norway; three sons James Michael (Bonney), Joseph Paul (Stefanie) and Jeffrey Donald (Katrina); six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his sister Louise Fogg Damon (Ed) Herb’s wife Barbara and family in Oklahoma; Pete’s family; Roger’s family; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Linda Bedard Ellingwood (Jerry) and Mary Brill Cook and families; and his good friend Sally Brown of Norway and her family.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Ralph Herbert (Herb), John Peter (Pete), Robert Stuart (Bobby) Roger Bruce (Roger) and baby Andrew who died at birth; a granddaughter Sommer Evelyn Fogg; in-laws “Bill” and Lona Bedard; and brother-in-law Reggie Cook.
The family wants to thank Dr. Samuel Ferguson, the doctors and nurses at Stephens Memorial Hospital, Maine Medical Center, the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris and Beacon Hospice for the special care given to Don.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Oxford Advent Christian Church with interment with military honors to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Norway. Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
