I’m supporting U.S. Rep. Jared Golden for Congress.
Rep. Austin Theriault promises he will put “people over politics,” but he voted against family leave, raising the minimum wage, and favored a “right to work” bill that would weaken labor unions.
So what people is he talking about? He has made a big deal of $50,000 he will raise this month for victims of the Lewiston shooting, but voted against a bill that would give millions supporting crime victims all over the state. As a Republican in Congress, Theriault would give hefty tax cuts to the donor class and the leftovers to everyone else. That’s politics.
Golden has consistently supported veterans, organized labor and women’s reproductive rights. After the tragic shooting last October, he supported a ban on assault rifles, even though he knew it might cost him his job.
Now that’s really people over politics.
