Charles Leighton Howe

OXFORD – Charles Leighton Howe, 80, of Oxford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 11, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Charles was born on Sept. 18, 1944, in Norway to Marshall (Pat) and Marion (Frothingham) Howe. In 1972, he met and married the love of his life, the former Marilyn Hebert.

Charles faithfully served his country in the United States Navy for 13 years and then went to work at Bath Iron Works, retiring from the shipyard after 31 years. Despite his many responsibilities, he was a dedicated family man, always making time for his wife and children. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending eight years coaching his sons Little League Teams. Later in life, he supported his grandchildren by attending Boy Scout events, softball games, wrestling meets, hockey games, band, orchestra and choral performances as well as hosting “Grampie Daycare”.

Charles will forever be remembered and missed by his wife of 52 years Marilyn; their three children, Lisa Jordan and husband Mike, Scott Howe and wife Vicki and Jeffrey Howe and wife Jenn; seven grandchildren, Brandon and wife Sara Jordan, Rebecca Jordan and partner Joshua Gunnells, Katie Jordan, Sam Howe, Katie Howe, Daniel Howe and Lizzie Howe; two great granddaughters, Claire and Marilyn Jordan. We find comfort in knowing his legacy lives through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the memories we will share forever.
