Ghislain L. Dupont
AUBURN – Ghislain L. Dupont, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 23, 2024.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1947, in Lejeune, Quebec, Canada, to Fernand Dupont and Georgette St. Pierre Dupont.
Ghislain is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Madeleine (Pelletier) Dupont, children, Donna Gauthier (James) and Steve Dupont, granddaughter Madeleine (Maddie) DeBurro, siblings, Fernande Dupont, Dorothie Dupont, Berthier Dupont (Carole Lavoie), Yolande Dupont, Rita Dupont. Ghislain is also survived by a great many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother Jean-Charles Dupont.
Throughout his life, Ghislain was a hardworking man who had great strength, talent, tenacity, and pride. He had a sharp eye for details and an uncommon fondness of heights. Some of his occupations included potato picker, logger, drywall installer, stucco contractor, handyman, landlord, and co-owner of a local small business.
He loved his family and cared for his friends in his own unique way. He spoke through his actions by spending time with them and by lending a helping hand whenever needed. He could always be counted on for a good laugh, spontaneous fun, or for some jigs and reels he played on his harmonica. He never shied away from a challenge and used his resourceful ways to fix any tough task at hand. When in a pinch, he could work magic with no more than a bread tie, duct tape, and drywall screws! His love of good food was undeniable and dessert was his favorite. He also had a very special connection with everything in nature including gardening, camping, fishing, exploring forests, and travelling. Being outside brought him great joy.
Ghislain, “Dupont”, “Papa”, “Pépère” you will greatly be missed and never forgotten. Au revoir.
The entire family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Papa’s care team in Bailey’s Island Community at Schooner Memory Care along with Andwell Health Partners for their exceptional care and support over the past few years.
