My main concern for what’s happening in our state is around education. I want my children and grandkids to remain in this state long-term. Currently, I see no options beyond homeschooling and commonsense private schools.
My goal isn’t to denigrate public school teachers. I believe there are many excellent and committed teachers. But they are saddled with ballooning mandates from departments of education — both state and federal.
Maine families desperately need more reasonable educational choices. Other states have enabled educators and parents to form charter schools that make sense, whereas Maine severely limits them. Let our families and educators work together for the good of the children.
That’s why I back Laurel Libby for state representative. She listens. She is a mom. And she definitely believes in an excellent education for Maine children.
I hope people vote for her.
