Here’s a chance to be led through the streets of Biddeford by a historian with a wealth of weird knowledge up her sleeve. You’ll hear stories of the strange, spectral and spooky persuasion, then you’ll repair to the gallery of the Briar & Bone shop for warm cider and snacks.

Rayna Greenberg and Ashley Hesseltine are the hosts of the popular podcast “Girls Gotta Eat,” which takes deep, comedic dives into dating, sex and relationships. The duo is bringing the show on the road, and a Thursday night stop in Portland is part of their “No Crumbs” tour. Packed with dance performances, crowd participation, giveaways and never-heard-before stories, this would make for a perfect girls night out or date night.

Harvest on the Harbor is a three-day celebration of Maine food and cocktails. It kicks off on Thursday with the Maine Cocktail Classic featuring members of the Maine Distillers Guild, who will be pouring flavorful samples that will be paired with Mediterranean food from Tiqa. Friday features the 2024 Maine Lobster Chef of the Year competition and From the Sea: A Culinary Voyage. The deliciousness winds down on Saturday with two sessions of the Maine OysterFest.

Collective Motion dance company is assembling several fancy-footed friends from the Maine dance community for a one-night-only performance in Portland. You’ll see new and older works unfold in dazzling fashion by Bower Dance, CBM Tappers, Collective Motion and Expansion Arts.

Lost Valley Fall Festival

Before ski season starts, you can head to Lost Valley for some quality fall fun. Ten dollars gets you unlimited chair rides, and the rest of the day’s activities are free, including lawn games, an ax-throwing pit, trunk-or-treating, a wood carving demo and an obstacle course. You’ll also hear live tunes from Toby McAllister and The Sierra. Several food trucks will be on site, including Pinky D’s Poutine Factory and L/A Taco.

Maine Voices Live with Richard Ford

Portland Press Herald staff writer Ray Routhier will be chatting with author Richard Ford. The Maine Voices Live interview with delve into the life of the novelist, storywriter and essayist, who is longtime resident of East Boothbay. Ford has penned 14 novels and story collections. His 1996 novel “Independence Day” won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1996. Several of Ford’s books will be available for purchase, and he’ll be signing copies.
