BAR HARBOR — Livermore Falls Advertiser staff writer Pam Harnden received three journalism awards Saturday, Oct. 19, during the annual Maine Press Association’s conference.

Harnden received a first place award in the sports news category for an article she wrote about a second cancellation of an auction of sports banners from Jay and Livermore Falls high schools before their consolidation into Spruce Mountain High School. Banners had been created for the new school that are unified and include information found on the original banners. Auction of the original banners was to have helped pay for the new banners and a future Hall of Fame recognizing all three schools but community concerns led to the halt in plans.

Harnden also received second place in the news photograph category for a taken during a Memorial Day observance at Union Park in Livermore Falls. The photo depicts the 21-gun salute given there.

A third place award was received by Harnden in the scenic photograph category. The photo in the Oct. 18 edition of the paper showed the effects of wind and sun on Brettuns Pond in Livermore.

Harnden joined the Livermore Falls Advertiser in 2015.
