It isn’t often that a person wins two lawsuits in a day but that’s what Ell H. Foster of Poland did Wednesday in superior court, Auburn.
He was victorious in two trespass suits brought against Joseph P. Lebaw, also of Poland, in one receiving an award of $20.42 and in the other $100.12. Both cases were heard by a jury; and were tried at the same time. He sued for $50 in one instance and for $400 in the other.
Mr. Foster alleged that Lebaw trampled down the grass on a farm on the Hardscrabble Road, three miles out from Littlefield’s, so that the hay crop was damaged; and that his cattle were frightened by blasting carried on by Lebaw. He claimed that the blasting also spoiled his fruit and apple crop.

A growing percentage of the people arrested in Maine are children, primarily teen-agers, according to state records.
Nearly 25 percent are 17 or younger, up from about 17 percent a decade ago.
Androscoggin County’s numbers, meanwhile, have gone down. Last year, 20 percent of the people arrested were juveniles compared to 31 percent in 1997.
Juveniles accounted for 26 percent of the arrests in Oxford County in 1997. They made up 22 percent of Franklin County’s total.
