Gerald “Jerry” R. Lessard
LEWISTON – Gerald “Jerry” R. Lessard, 76, a resident of Lewiston, Maine, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Central Maine Medical Center on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.
Jerry was born in Lewiston on June 17, 1948, the son of Laurence and Ameda Paquette Lessard.
A graduate of Lewiston High School 1968 followed by joining the Army maintaining CH-54skycrane helicopters and receiving an honorable discharge.
He loved vacationing in Aruba and especially going on luxury cruises. Jerry appreciated collectible automobiles, early models and current. Over the years he restored earlier cars Corvairs, Camaro, 1940 Ford and purchased special models of current cars. It should also be noted that his wife Diane rolled up her sleeves and got as greasy as Jerry changing engines and making mechanical upgrades to cars. His favorite car was a 1948 Buick convertible which was almost original.
Jerry made a career in working as a truck driver which lead him to eventually be self employed until his retirement.
He had a big heart for everyone in his life.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Liane Asselin, two brothers Lawrence Jr. Lessard and Donald Lessard.
Survivors include the love of his life for the past 52 years his wife Diane P. Dubois of Lewiston; one sister Claudette Clark and her husband David Clark; Godchildren Rochelle Clark of Lewiston, Jason G. Dubois of Greene and Heather Gee of New Hampshire; sisters-in-law Jacqueline Dubois of Auburn, Lorraine Camic of Florida, Joline Binette and her husband Andy of Auburn, brothers-in-law Raymond Dubois of Auburn, Richard Dubois and his wife Diane of Florida and Michael Dubois and his wife Cheryl of Turner; a nephew Lynn Asselin and his wife Silvia of Lewiston, nieces Jennifer and her husband Jason Boyd of Poland and Kim Gee of New Hampshire; grandnephew Lynn Asselin II and his wife Drew of San Diego, Tyler Gee of New Hampshire, Brandon Binette Old Orchard Beach, Daniel Boyd and significant other Maddie of Mechanic Falls, Christopher Boyd of Poland, grandnieces Hayley of New Hampshire and Madelyn Boyd of Poland.
Funeral services along with military honors, honoring Jerry’s life will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum. At the family’s request there will not be any visitation.
