FARMINGTON — The Farmington Historical Society will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 28, at the North Church, 118 High St. There will be a potluck at 6 p.m., a short business meeting to follow, and a program to begin at 7 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

FHS member David Spenciner will present his program, ”A Consolidated Database Of Farmington Maine’s Civil War Soldiers”. This is an update of his research project into collecting and aggregating information from various print and on-line sources concerning soldiers with a connection to Farmington who fought in the Civil War.

Much has been written about our soldiers, but unfortunately this information hasn’t been previously available in a single, searchable format. Ultimately, this database could be used to help answer a variety of questions about these men and the families they left at home. Finally, David will perform a deeper dive into the history of a couple of soldiers, Convers Moody and John Shepherd Bean.
